The European Scout Conference is an exciting and intense experience—full of debates, discoveries, and new connections. With so much happening, it’s easy to overlook your own well-being. But taking care of yourself is key to making the most of the event and contributing your best.
Here are 10 simple well-being tips to help you stay healthy, refreshed, and ready to engage:
1. Stay hydrated
Keep a reusable water bottle with you and drink regularly. Hydration helps you stay focused, energised, and alert throughout the day.
2. Get enough sleep
Prioritise rest, even if your days are packed. A good night’s sleep keeps your brain sharp and your mood balanced.
3. Take a shower
Starting the day with a refreshing shower isn’t just about hygiene—it also helps wake you up, boost your mood, and prepare you to meet others with confidence. A quick shower in the evening can also help you wind down and get ready for restful sleep, especially after a long, active day.
4. Take movement breaks
Sitting through long sessions? Stretch, take a short walk, or do some light exercises to re-energise your body and mind.
5. Eat balanced meals
Nourish yourself with a mix of healthy foods—fruits, vegetables, proteins, and whole grains. Don’t skip meals, especially when you’re active and on the go.
6. Pace yourself
You don’t have to attend everything. Choose the most relevant sessions for you, and leave space in your day to rest and reset.
7. Limit screen time
Take intentional breaks from your phone or laptop. Too much screen time can increase fatigue—give your eyes and mind a rest.
8. Find quiet moments
Seek out quiet spaces where you can pause and take a breath. A few minutes of calm can help you process what you’ve learned and refocus.
9. Practice mindfulness
Whether it’s during a session or a walk between meetings, try being present in the moment. Breathe deeply, take in your surroundings, and check in with how you’re feeling.
10. Reach out and use the safe space
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or just need someone to talk to, the Listening Ear service is here to help. Trained volunteers are available to listen in a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment. You can also visit the dedicated Safe Space onsite if you need time away from the crowd to recharge or talk things through. You are never alone, support is always close by.
Take care of yourself, so you can take part fully. A healthy, well-rested delegate is an effective one. Let’s support one another to thrive, grow, and lead together throughout the Conference.
